Hi, my name is Sara and I sew all you can see in this website in my little workshop in Fuerteventura (Spain). I play around with various techniques to create one-of-a-kind pieces carefully designed to be useful and durable.
I spent many years working with restoring art in Italy, my original country. My experience in art-restoration fueled my creativity and imagination, as well as my love for ancients works and methods. It was a wonderful time spent among paint brushes, lime bins and mortar, restoring old paintings and afrescos. Bringing these old paintings back to life awakened in me an admiration and awe for the longevity of art, and also my appreciation for re-use, refurbishing and recycling.
Even if the strict rules of restoration don't leave you much space for personal talents or creating from scratch, it triggered a wave of inventiveness and imagination in me, as well as profound love for handmade arts and crafts and DIY projects.
What encouraged me to create Peak's Creations was moving to Fuerteventura. It was here where I began working as an artisan and selling my handmade products in various craft-markets. This relatively small island in the Atlantic makes me feel surrounded by beauty and also I am constantly reminded of the values of re-use or re-purposing, perhaps because this is a place where nature is arid, and resources are not taken for granted.
I hope you enjoy looking around this site, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to drop me a note to [email protected].
Wishing you all the best,
Sara
